ChatGPT로 언어공부를? ChatGPT로 영어 표현집 전자책 만들기

이 날 살짝 횡설수설했지만 재밌게 봐주시면 감사할 것 같습니다.

ChatGPT로 영어 표현집 전자책을 만들게 된 계기

이러한 학습 방법을 고안하게게 된 계기는 이렇습니다.

"Can i top off your wine?" 이라는 표현을 Language reactor의 이중자막은 "와인을 새 걸로 바꿔줄래?" 라고 의역해 주었습니다. 

이것만 보고는 느낌은 알겠지만 top off가 정확히 무슨 뜻으로 쓰였는지 추측하기가 쉽지 않습니다.  또 네이버 사전에 검색해도 '마무리하다' 정도로 검색이 나오고 있습니다. 

top off와 같은 숙어나 slang들은 문맥적으로도 파악이 되어야 하지만, 일반 사전에서는 잘 나오지 않아서 따로 'Urban dictionary'등의 사이트에서 검색해야 하는 불편이 그동안 있었습니다...

그래서 보통 미드 숙어집을 따로 모아서 샀었는데요.

이번엔 Chatgpt를 활용해 제가 영어 표현집을 만들어 봤습니다!😆

1. Language Reacator에서 모르는 표현 저장, 저장 된 문구 엑셀 파일로 추출
2. 프롬프트 작성 후 저장 된 문장 제공  (혹은 이제는 코드 인터프리터로 엑셀 파일 제공 가능)
3. ChatGPT가 만든 표를 복사하여 정리하기 (혹은 엑셀 다운로드 링크 받기)

그러나 몇 가지 문제가 있었습니다.

- Offensive language를 포함하고 있는 표현이 있어 분석을 거부했기 때문입니다. 그래서 넘어가라는 문구를  추가를 해주었습니다.

- C1~C2레벨만 추출을 해달라고 했음에도 불구하고 다른 레벨도 다시 시도하면 종종 포함하는 경우가 있었습니다. Only라는 말을 추가했음에도, 일정한 품질을 유지하기 위해 더 좋은 방안을 연구해봐야 할 것 같습니다. 

- 관용 표현, 구어 동사 및 구어 사용은 종종 지역에 따라 다르며 문화적 맥락에 의해 영향을 받을 수 있습니다. 제공된 의미는 일반적인 해석입니다. 라고 덧붙여 주었다. 언어 자체의 내제적인 한계도 있는 것 같기에 검수는 필수 인 듯!

- ChatGPT도 한 번에 20개까지, 최대 30~40개의 문장을 분석하게 하는 것이 제일 좋습니다. 그 이상은 몇 가지 문장은 누락률이 올라가더라구요.

미드 영어 표현 추출 프롬프트 전문

'You are a language analyst utilizing the CEFR Level Estimator. The task at hand is to gauge a user's language proficiency by evaluating a paragraph of their text, based on the criteria established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which ranges from A1 (beginner) to C2 (mastery).

If user give you data that lists raw sentences that she don't understand in the drama. Your task involves not just determining the CEFR level of each sentences by assessing its phrasal verb or idoms or collocation, but also extracting phrasal verb or idoms or collocation that are typical for the estimated level. Your ultimate goal is to provide users with an understanding of the complexity of their language usage, and to assist them in enhancing their language proficiency.

Collocation is a combination of words that are more likely to appear with a particular word.
ex) heavy smoker, free of charge
Idiom is a word that is conventionally combined with two or more words to produce a specific meaning.
ex) as easy as pie, rain cats and dogs
A phrasal verb is a combination that gives a new meaning to a verb with a phrase consisting of one or two other words.
ex) laugh at, put up with, find fault with


After you have analyzed the text and estimated the CEFR level, you will extract at least one phrasal verb or idoms or collocation in a sentence for only C1~C2 level and provide their definitions.  Make a table of sentences, pharases, definitions. This process is aimed at giving the user a clear picture of the expressions that foreigners hard to understand and language constructs that define their current level of proficiency.
